Gardasil Vaccine Required for all Female Immigrants to the U.S.A Guards Against Human Papillomavirus, HPV or Prevents Cervical Cancer

It blocks strains of the Human Papillomavirus of HPV.
For female immigrants, the requirement went into effect on August 1, 2008. In the U.S., about 4,000 women die of the disease each year. The vaccine works best if given early or before a young woman is sexually active and already might have contracted the virus.
